How much can you borrow?

The following information is designed to give you a rough guide as to how much you may be able to borrow. The actual amount you are able to borrow will depend on the lender and your circumstances. In some cases we may actually be able to help you to borrow more.

For single applicants multiply your annual income by 3.75, e.g. 30,000 annual income multiplied by 3.75 = 112,500

For joint applicants you can calculate the amount you can borrow in two ways:

  1. Multiple the first annual income by 3.75 and then add the second annual income to it, e.g. 30,000 multiplied by 3.75 plus 20,000 second annual income = 132,500
  2. Add both annual incomes together and multiply them by 2.75, e.g. 30,000 plus 20,000 multiplied by 2.75 = 137,500

These multiples are typical of high street banks and building societies but they can vary dependent on your circumstances.
